Hello all!  Like everyone else, I've been spending scads of Lindens at the fabulous Arcade Gatcha event. I don't have pictures of any of the items in this shoot, but I thought the sim itself made a great location for photography.  Props to the creators (Meshworx, I believe) for doing such a great job! The goodies I collected from the Arcade will definitely show up in later looks and blog posts - I'm pretty sure I got at least one of everything! The only think I haven't gotten is the Trompe Loeil Baroque Bench. I played the gatcha twice, but the benches were never delievered. :(  Cory Edo, TL's creator, was super nice and accomodating and refunded my money straight away. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to try to get that bench again and risk having it fail to deliver for a third time.  Hmmmm!

 

Meanwhile, I've been busy in SL decorating my new home, which I hope to take pictures of soon.  This look is something I put together in anticipation of that transitional period where summer sheds away into autumn.  Hats and jackets start to seem more and more sensible...as do boots....but you don't feel quite so ready to put away the shorts and the swimsuit yet. But then it starts to rain and you realize that before you have a chance to get used to autumn, winter will be on its way...

I am home sick today - bad for me, good for the back-log of blogging I've been meaning to get to!  I am somewhat sheepish and ashamed to say that this look is WEEKS old, combining items from both last month's Collabor and the Vintage Fair.  Ah well.  Better now than never?  I put the look together and it struck me as very elegant and dignified, which meant I imediately wanted to give it a little edginess.  I imagined a young girl sitting to have her portrait painted and how hideously tedious and boring it must have been.... and what a relief it would be to dance around and listen to music after the ordeal was over!  The music itself?  The Smiths, of course.  The Queen is Dead. (Mostly because Morrissey tickets have just gone on sale here, and I can't afford them.  WOE~)

Playing around a lot with GIMP again, since the Vintage Fair got me in the mood to try to make some vintage/retro photographs, complete with wear and tear.  The Clawtooth hair is one of the purchases I made at the Hair Fair last month, and I absolutely love it, especially that swirly little bit at the top.  Not much to say about the outfit, except I put together a bunch of candy-colored items and tried to balance it all out with the neutral grey of Milk Motion's vintage sweater.  Also - everyone needs these Monso oxfords.  Best purchase ever!  Overall I really, really like this look and am trying to wear it for as long as I can, heh.

A little Collabor88 goodness for you!  I really like this round, particularly thanks to the rich color tapestry.  While I love summer pastels, I've been feeling a little burnt out on them, so this was a nice change.  Since the colors are bold, I went for a whole bold outfit.  The corset outfit by Iren fits perfectly, and, as usual, I'm in love with everything LaGyo makes.  G-Field has become my favorite place for boots.  They're very resonably priced (these were under 300L) and come with a hud that lets you change the trim, laces, and so on.  For my photos this time I really messed around in Gimp with filters and effects.  What do you think?  I feel like you can't see the details of the outfits as much, but the photos themselves are more atmospheric and interesting.

Slowly but surely, I'm working my way through my inventory and finding stuff I meant to blog about a while ago.  Oop!  A lot of items in this look are from the July Collabor88 and the Hair Fair; the skirt was also a FLF special, but is still on sale at its regular price.  I really like this look; it feels like something a mermaid-turned-human would wear, so in keeping with that theme I plopping myself on the end of my Bae Dock by Cheeky Pea.  It has a ton of great poses with it, but the one in the first picture is really the only one that worked well with a long mesh skirt.  I'm finding that mesh items can be tricky on furniture poses, because from some angles your alpha shows and it looks like you have no legs or something!  So, this dock also comes with a bunch of blankets and pillows, but they don't show in any of the pictures.  Just trust me when I say it's an awesome item (and it's from Cheeky Pea, so you already know that!).

My next look should be a little more current and up-to-speed, showing off some stuff I got at Vintage Fair and the new Baroque round of Collabor88. :D


PS - does anyone who uses blogger know why the background of my text is white?  It's really bugging me - I want it to match the background of my blog! DX

I haven't blogged in a while because I've been trying to get control of my totally chaotic inventory.  Confession: I have a habit of buying stuff on sale just because it's on sale, and it piles up in my inventory and then I get completely overwhelmed and then don't know where anything is!  So, I'm trying to get into the habit of buying things more carefully; selecting a piece I really, really like and then looking for items to go with it, rather than going "oh, that's cute and cheap, why not!"  I'm also pretty low on Lindens and probably shouldn't buy anymore for a while... so, I'm going to try to make upcoming looks using things in my inventory that I haven't shown yet, even if they aren't especially new.  These items shown here do happen to be fairly recent, tho!  I love that I was able to wear the mesh skirt with the mesh vest... though I did have to size up a bit on the vest, and now my avi has huge gazongas (much bigger than they actually are on my shape!).  The hair was free at the hair fair, and I thought it was adorbs.  I'm also loving DDL's accessories right now - so well made!

Long time no post!  Sorry for my absence, but I was in fact out of town for a week or so, and have also just been generally swamped with RL stuff, which hasn't left much time for SL.  I actually meant to do this photoshoot a while ago, around the time the Fairy Tales event was still going, as many of these items came from there.  Presumably they are now available in the main stores.  There's an overdose of LaGyo here, since I loved every single creation she made for Fairy Tales.  With the photos I guess I was going for something a little whimsical, but also a bit brooding, a bit dark.  Flowey's poses were a perfect fit.  Anyway, I'm glad to be back.  More posts to come!
